The Perfect Fit: A Quick Guide to Ensuring Your Bra Fits Correctly.
Not everyone is comfortable or confident in going braless on their wedding day and thats okay, we can always alter attire to allow for a bra to be worn. But then what? how do you find the perfect bra? sometimes this feels like a daunting task, esspecially if you dont know how to fit your bra correctly. Thats where this handy little quick guide comes in, to help you fit your bra correctly and to ensure all day comfort and support while wearing your dream wedding attire.
Step 1: Measure Your Band Size Using the inch side of a tape measure wrap snugly around your ribcage, right under your bust. Ensure the tape is straight and tight across your back. This measurement is your band size.
Step 2: Measure Your Bust Measure the fullest part of your bust, without pulling the tape too tight. This is your bust measurement.
Step 3: Calculate Your Cup Size Subtract your band size from your bust measurement. The difference in inches corresponds to your cup size (1"=A, 2"=B, 3"=C, 4”=D, 5”=DD, etc.).
Step 4: Check the Band Alignment The back band of your bra should be straight and parallel to the ground and comfortably fasten on the last row of hooks (This will allow you to use the tighter hooks as the bra band looses some of its stetch with wear and washing). If the band is riding up, the bra may be too big or the straps too tight. Make sure the band does no allow skin to over flow or leave harsh impressions in your skin, this can cause skin irritation and pain during a full day and evening of wear.
Step 5: Adjust the Straps Your straps should not dig into your shoulders or slip off. Adjust them so that you can fit two fingers under the straps comfortably.
Step 6: Ensure the Cups Fit The cups should fully enclose your breasts without spillage or gaping. If there’s spillage, try a larger cup size; if the cups gape, try a smaller size.
Step 7: The Underwire Test If your bra has underwires, they should sit flat against your ribcage and not on your breast tissue. If this occurs you will need to go up a cup size.
Step 8: The Final Check Put on a fitted t-shirt over your bra to check for spillage or any visible lines. If everything looks smooth, you’ve found the perfect fit!
